Medical effect: Xyzal tablets are effective for the treatment of following diseases and conditions:

• allergic rhinitis,
• hives, including long term hives of unclear cause,
• eczema and dermatitis,
• prurigo and cutaneous pruritus.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with renal disorder or liver disorder. Do not use for patients with convulsive disease such as epilepsy or history of convulsive disease.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop using the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

As this medicine may cause sleepiness, patient should avoid operating dangerous machinery, driving a car or working at heights.

Please note that alcohol may worsen side effects such as sleepiness and malaise.

Dosage and administration

For adults: take 1 tablet (5 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day, before bedtime. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the age or symptoms. However, the maximum daily dose of 2 tablets (10 mg) should not be exceeded.

For children of 7-15 years old: take 0.5 tablet (2.5 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 2 times a day, after breakfast and before bedtime.

Xyzal tablets contain levocetirizine hydrochloride, a third-generation antihistamine. It works by exhibiting histamine H1 receptor antagonism and improving allergic symptoms, such as runny nose, sneezing, redness, itching, and tearing of the eyes.

Who should use Xyzal tablets 5 mg from Japan?

Xyzal tablets are effective for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, hives, including long term hives of unclear cause, eczema and dermatitis, prurigo and cutaneous pruritus. As levocetirizine hydrochloride does not enter the brain in significant amounts, it has much less sedating effect than other antihistamines. Also, studies showed that it does not significantly prolong the QT interval and has a better cardiac safety profile (R. Hulhoven, D. Rosillon et al.
