Medical effect: Azelastine hydrochloride tablets are effective for the treatment of the following diseases and conditions:

Dosage and administration of Azelastine hydrochloride tablets 1 mg from Japan (antihistamine)

For bronchial asthma: for adults, take 2 tablets (2mg of the active ingredient) 2 times a day, after breakfast and before bedtime.

For allergic rhinitis, hives, eczema, dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous pruritus and prurigo: for adults, take 1 tablet (1mg of the active ingredient) 2 times a day, after breakfast and before bedtime.

The consulting doctor may adjust the dosage according to disease, age and symptoms.

Azelastine is a well-known second-generation antihistamine used about 40 years in medicine. This phthalazinone derivative works by binding to histamine H1-receptors and inhibiting the production and release of allergy-inducing substances like histamine or leukotriene. Azelastine hydrochloride tablets are safe, well-tolerated and rapid-acting. This medicine effectively reduces the histamine-mediated symptoms of allergic reaction, such as bronchoconstriction, vasodilation, increased capillary permeability and spasmodic contractions of gastrointestinal smooth muscle.

Who should take Azelastine hydrochloride tablets 1 mg from Japan?

Azelastine hydrochloride tablets are prescribed for patients with bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, hives, eczema or dermatitis, atopic dermatitis and cutaneous pruritus. Studies showed that for patients with rhinitis azelastine is effective for both seasonal allergic rhinitis and nonallergic vasomotor rhinitis (J. A. Bernstein. “Azelastine hydrochloride: a review of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy and tolerability”. Current Medical Research and Opinion, 2007, 23(10): 2441-52). For patients with bronchial asthma, Azelastine hydrochloride tablets reduce the frequency of attacks and allow to use the backup medication 2.5 times less. However, this medicine is not designed for immediate relieving the asthmatic attack.
