Medical effect: Rosuvastatin tablets are effective for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with liver disorder.

The patient should strictly follow the instructions on dietary and exercise therapy.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

Dosage and administration

Start taking 0.5 tablet (2.5 mg as rosuvastatin) at a time, once a day. If patient needs a faster result, the initial dose may be started with 1 tablet (5 mg) at a time. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to patient’s age and symptoms. If the efficacy is not enough after 4 weeks from the start, the dose may be increased. But the maximum daily dose of 4 tablets (20 mg) should not be exceeded.

Please note that this medicine contains 5 mg of rosuvastatin in 1 tablet.

This medicine will be dissolved with saliva when you place it on the tongue, however, it should be swallowed with saliva or water as the tablet won’t be adsorbed in the mouth.

Rosuvastatin is synthetic medicine of statin class, inhibiting production of cholesterol in the liver, and thus lowering the cholesterol levels in the blood. It provides the following effects:

• Lowers total cholesterol level (main indication for use of Rosuvastatin tablets),
• Lowers LDL cholesterol level,
• Increases HDL cholesterol level,
• Lowers triglycerides level in blood.

Also, Rosuvastatin tablets are recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients in a high-risk group.

A meta-review of 108 clinical trials involving more than 19000 patients showed that total cholesterol is reduced by 22.1-44.8%, LDL cholesterol by 31.2%-61.2%, non-HDL cholesterol by 28.9-56.7% and triglycerides by 14.4-26.6% (S.
