Medical effect: Fareston tablets work as selective estrogen receptor modulator. It inhibits activity of estrogen against breast cancer cells and suppresses the growth of cancer cells.
Contraindications and precautions: Fareston tablets cannot be used for the following categories of patients:
- patients with myelosuppression,
- patients with hypokalemia,
- patients with arrhythmia such as bradycardia or cardiac disease which is prone to develop arrhythmia such as myocardial ischemia,
- patients with history of QT prolongation on electrocardiogram.
- patients taking antiarrhythmic agent (quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol, etc.),
- pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Dosage and administration of Japanese tablets Fareston for breast cancer
Take 1 tablet (40 mg of toremifene) 1 time a day. If the patient has already received drug treatment or radiation therapy, take 3 tablets (120 mg of toremifene) 1 time a day.
Be sure to use birth control other than hormone preparation as Fareston tablets reduce the efficacy of estrogen.
