How effective are Ebutol tablets 250 mg from Japan for tuberculosis and mycobacteriosis?
Ebutol tablets’ active ingredient is ethambutol hydrochloride, a derivative of the only isomer of three existing isomers of ethambutol that has a high antituberculotic activity (S. Oka, K. Konno et al. Clinical Studies on Ethambutol. American Review of Respiratory Disease, 91(5), pp. 762–763). This substance is effective for stopping growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. It works by obstructing the formation of bacteria cell walls. Ebutol tablets are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and well distributed in body tissues and fluids.
Who should use Ebutol tablets 250 mg from Japan?
While in some countries, like US, ethambutol hydrochloride was approved for the treatment of tuberculosis only, in Japan Ebutol tablets are also approved for the treatment of mycobacteriosis caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria. Also, ethambutol hydrochloride is easy to combine with other antituberculotic medications like isoniazid. And for the treatment of tuberculosis, Ebuthol tablets are recommended to be taken in conjunction with other medications in order to increase their efficacy, adsorption and distribution in the body.
