Medical effect: Xarelto tablets are effective for the prevent onset of ischemic stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for the following categories of patients:

• pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding women,
• patients with bleeding (intracranial bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc.),
• patients with bleeding tendency, prolonged bleeding or high risk of bleeding,
• patients with a history of bronchiectasis or lung bleeding,
• patients with liver or renal disorder,
• patients with acute bacterial endocarditis,
• patients with low body weight,
• patients with gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, malignant tumor or hypertension.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

If the patient is about to receive dental treatment, endoscopic examination or surgery, the doctor in charge must be informed in advance that the patient is taking this medicine.

As this medicine may lead to prolonged bleeding, it’s very important not to get injured. If bleeding time is prolonged or the injury involves a large area, immediately contact your doctor.

Be sure to avoid taking any food or supplement containing hypericum perforatum (St. John's wort) while taking this medication.

Dosage and administration of Xarelto tablets 15 mg from Japan for prevention of ischemic stroke (rivaroxaban)

For adults: take 15 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day after meals. For patients with renal disorder, the dosage may be decreased to 10 mg at a time, once a day and the treatment must be performed under the strict monitoring of the consulting doctor.

Xarelto tablets contain 15 mg of rivaroxaban, a factor Xa inhibitor, an anticoagulant. It works by decreasing the clotting ability of the blood and preventing harmful clots from forming in the blood vessels. Xarelto tablets effectively allow predictable anticoagulation and dose adjustments and routine coagulation monitoring, while dietary restrictions are not needed for this medication.
