Dosage and administration of Valsartan tablets 160 mg from Japan for hypertension and high blood pressure (Diovan)

• For adults: the take 40-80 mg of active ingredient once a day. If that isn’t enough, the consulting doctor may increase the dose up to 160 mg once a day.
• For children of 6 years and older with body weight less than 35 kg: take 20 mg of active ingredient once a day. The consulting pediatrician may increase the dosage, but the maximum of 40 mg of active ingredient a day should not be exceeded.
• For children of 6 years and older with body weight more than 35 kg: take 40 mg of active ingredient once a day. The consulting pediatrician may increase the dosage according to age and symptoms.
• For children of 5 years and less: do not use.

Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker. It selectively binds to angiotensin receptor 1 (AT1) and prevents the protein called angiotensin II from binding. By this, Valsartan tablets effectively prevent angiotensin II from exerting its hypertensive effects, which include vasoconstriction and cardiac stimulation.
