Takecab tablets contain vonoprazan fumarate, a potassium-competitive acid blocker, the first in in its class. It works by inhibiting the proton pump in a potassium ion-competitive manner to reduce gastric acid secretion in the stomach. Studies showed that Takecab tablets increase intragastric pH in only 4 hours after the first intake, and during the course of treatment intragastric pH holding time significantly extends (H. Echizen "The First-in-Class Potassium-Competitive Acid Blocker, Vonoprazan Fumarate: Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Considerations". Clinical Pharmacokinetics, 2016, 55 (4): 409–18).
