Medical effect: Seroquel tablets are effective for the treatment of schizophrenia. 

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for the following categories of patients:

• patients in coma,
• pregnant women,
• breastfeeding women,
• patients with diabetes mellitus or a history of it.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop using the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

As this medicine may cause sleepiness or dizziness, a patient should avoid operating dangerous machinery, driving a car or working at heights.

A patient should pay attention to the possible weight gain, taking a healhy diet or exercise therapy.

A patient should avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.

Dosage and administration

For adults: start with 25 mg of active ingredient at a time, 2- 3 times a day. Then the dose may be gradually increased depending on the condition up to 150-600 mg a day taken in 2 or 3 divided doses. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to patient’s age and symptoms. However, the maximum of 750 mg of active ingredient a day should not be exceeded. Please note that this preparation contains 200 mg of active ingredient in one tablet.

How effective are Seroquel tablets 200 mg from Japan for schizophrenia (quetiapine fumarate)?

Seroquel tablets contain quetiapine fumarate, an atypical antipsychotic medication. It works by affecting various receptors in the brain, including dopamine, serotonin, histamine and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Seroquel tablets improve such symptoms as strong anxiety, tense feeling, decreased motivation and insomnia.

Who should use Seroquel tablets 200 mg from Japan?

Studies showed that using Seroquel tablets for patients with schizophrenia is as much effective as the first-generation antipsychotics and risperidone, but with significantly fewer risks for movement disorders (M. Srisurapanont, B. Maneeton, et al. "Quetiapine for schizophrenia". The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2004 (2): CD000967). Other researches held in Denmark, Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, and Sweden also show that quetiapine can be used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar depression, psychosis and alcohol use disorder. However, in these cases the dosage and administration should be prescribed by doctor in charge.
