Active ingredient: meropenem hydrate (chemical formula C17H25N3O5S)

Medical effect: Meropenem is effective for treatment of meningitis, intra-abdominal infection, pneumonia, sepsis, anthrax, febrile neutropenia, skin and skin structure infections and complicated intra-abdominal infections.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Dosing should be adjusted for altered kidney function and for haemofiltration. If an allergic reaction occurs, stop using the medication and consult with your doctor.

Dosage and administration of Japanese Meropenem ampoules for IV 0.25 g (Merrem, antibiotic) 

• For febrile neutropenia: Take 1 ampoule 3 times a day as intravenous drip.
• For purulent meningitis: Take 1 ampoule 3 times a day as intravenous drip.
• For other indications: In adults, take 1 ampoule 2-3 times a day as intravenous drip. In children, take 1 ampoule 3 times a day as intravenous drip.

Meropenem is a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic effective against meningitis, intra-abdominal infection, pneumonia, sepsis, anthrax, febrile neutropenia, skin and skin structure infections and complicated intra-abdominal infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Meropenem is stable to dehydropeptidase-1, so can be given without cilastatin.
