Dosage and administration of Lipitor tablets 10 mg from Japan for hypercholesterolemia (atorvastatin, statin)

For hypercholesterolemia: For adults, take 1 tablet 1 time a day. In case of severe symptoms, the dosage may be increased by the consulting doctor up to 2 tablets a day.

For familial hypercholesterolemia: For adults, take 1 tablet 1 time a day. In case of severe symptoms, the dosage may be increased by the consulting doctor up to 4 tablets a day.

The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms by the consulting doctor.

Lipitor tablets contain atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor belonging to the group of statins. It works by inhibiting a certain enzyme and, by this, decreasing the blood level of low-density lipoproteins (“bad” cholesterol) and increasing the production of high-density lipoproteins (“good” cholesterol). Lipitor tablets prevent excessive production of the cholesterol in liver and, by this, lower the cholesterol blood level and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Lipitor tablets are effective for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. They are recommended for the primary prevention of heart attack, stroke, and need for revascularization procedures in people who have risk factors and a family history of early heart disease. Also, studies showed the right dosage of atorvastatin does not affect the risk of diabetes but reduces the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with 2-4 diabetes risk factors (D. D. Waters, J.
