Medical effect: Linzess tablets are effective for the treatment of the following diseases and conditions:

• hypersensitivity in the large intestine,
• abdominal pain and discomfort,
• constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome,
• chronic constipation.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use in patients who have, or are suspected of having, mechanical intestinal obstruction.

As this medicine is hygroscopic, take out the tablet from the sheet only just before taking the medicine. Do not leave naked unwrapped tablets or store them in a different container.

Dosage and administration of Linzess tablets 0.25 mg from Japan for constipation (Constella)

For adults, take 2 tablets 1 time a day before meals. The dosage may be reduced to 1 tablet depending on the symptoms.

The dosage may be adjusted by the consulting doctor according to age, body weight and symptoms.

How effective are Japanese Linzess tablets 0.25 mg for constipation?

Linzess tablets contain linaclotide, a synthetic tetradecapeptide mimic of endogenous guanylin and uroguanylin. It works by activating the guanylate cyclase C receptor on the surface of the intestinal epithelium. By this, Linzess tablets promote water secretion in the intestine, reduce pain by decreasing action of colonic sensory neurons and activate colonic motor neurons, which increases smooth muscle contraction. As a result, Linzess tablets from Japan effectively promote defecation.
