Linzess tablets contain linaclotide, a synthetic tetradecapeptide mimic of endogenous guanylin and uroguanylin. By this, Linzess tablets promote water secretion in the intestine, reduce pain by decreasing action of colonic sensory neurons and activate colonic motor neurons, which increases smooth muscle contraction. As a result, Linzess tablets from Japan effectively promote defecation.
