Medical effect: Furosemide tablets are effective for the following purposes:

• treatment of hypertension (main indication for use of Furosemide tablets),
• treatment of malignant hypertension,
• treatment of edema caused by cardiac/renal/hepatic/peripheral vascular disorder,
• treatment of premenstrual syndrome,
• promoting excretion of urinary calculi.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with anuria, hepatic coma, reduced levels of sodium or potassium in body fluids, hepatocirrhosis, coronary arteriosclerosis, cerebral arteriosclerosis, renal disorder, liver disease/liver dysfunction, a history or family history of gout, diabetes mellitus, diarrhea, or vomiting. Do not use for patients scheduled for an operation or on sodium restricted diet therapy.

As this medicine may provoke the sudden dizziness, the patient should take care when working at heights, operating dangerous machinery, or driving a car.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

Dosage and administration

For adults, take 4-8 tablets (40-80 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day or once every two days. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the age or symptoms. A much more dosage may be used if patient has a renal dysfunction. However, for the treatment of malignant hypertension, this medicine is usually co-administered with other anti-hypertensives.

As this medicine leads to nocturnal urination thus causing difficulties falling asleep, avoid taking it after dinner. If otherwise instructed by your doctor, follow the instructions of doctor in charge.
