How effective are Calblock tablets 16 mg from Japan for hypertension (azelnidipine, Azusa, Azovas)?
Calblock tablets contain azelnidipine, a dihydropyridine L and T calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking calcium inflow into cells and consequently dilating constricted vessels to decrease blood pressure. Calblock tablets have a gradual onset and a long-lasting hypotensive effect, with little increase in heart rate.
Who should use Calblock tablets 16 mg from Japan?
Calblock tablets are effective for the treatment of essential hypertension. This medicine does not provoke tachycardia. Studies showed that azelnidipine provides cardiovascular protective effects, like anti-oxidative action, decreasing heart rate, and improving systolic and diastolic function (B. Chen, Y. Zhang et al. “Clinical use of azelnidipine in the treatment of hypertension in Chinese patients”. Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management, 2015, 11: 309-318). Calblock tablets are generally well tolerated and have very few side effects.
