How effective are Bonoteo tablets 1 mg for osteoporosis from Japan?
Bonoteo tablets contain 1 mg of minodronic acid hydrate, bisphosphonate that inhibits activity of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase. Thus, Bonoteo tablets inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption, 1000 times more effective than etidronic acid and 10 to 100 times more effective than alendronic acid. This medicine decreases the incidence rate of new vertebral and nonvertebral fractures. In other words, it is effective for preventing bone fracture.
Who should use Bonoteo tablets 1 mg for osteoporosis?
Studies show that Bonoteo tablets are effective for increasing bone density and strength in patients with osteoporosis of different aetiology, like postmenopausal osteoporosis or steroid-induced osteoporosis (for example, see S. Tanishima, Y. Morio. A review of minodronic acid hydrate for the treatment of osteoporosis. Clinical interventions in aging, 2013, 8:185-9). Also, this medicine can be used both for primary osteoporosis and secondary osteoporosis.
