Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with cardiovascular disease, pheochromocytoma or a history of pheochromocytoma, or angle-closure glaucoma.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication, please consult with your doctor before use.

The content of the capsule is very irritative to the eyes. Take the capsule without opening it. If the content of the capsule has contacted the eye, wash the eye with water immediately and consult with doctor. Be careful to wash your hands or other part of  body with water, if the content of the capsule contacted them.

As this medicine may cause sleepiness and dizziness, a patient should avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery after taking this medicine.

Dosage and administration

For patients younger than 18 years: in general, this start with 0.5 mg of active ingredient per kg of weight as an initial daily dose. Then increase to 0.8 mg/kg daily, then to 1.2 mg/kg daily, up to the maintenance dose of 1.2-1.8 mg/kg daily. The interval between increasing steps should be 1 week or longer. Take this medicine in 2 divided doses daily in any case. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to clinical requirements. However, the total daily dose of 1.8 mg/kg or 120 mg, whichever is less, should not be exceeded.

For patients aged 18 years and older: in general, start with taking 40 mg of active ingredient a day as an initial dose. After 1 week or longer, increase to 80 mg daily. After 2 weeks or more, increase up to the maintenance dose of 80-120 mg daily. This medicine can be taken either as a single daily dose or as 2 divided doses daily. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to clinical requirements. However, the total daily dose of 120 mg should not be exceeded.

Please note that this medicine contain 25 mg of active ingredient in each capsule.

How effective are Strattera capsules 25 mg from Japan for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, atomoxetine hydrochloride)?

Strattera capsules contain atomoxetine hydrochloride, a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It works by increasing norepinephrine and dopamine levels in the brain, regulating neurotransmitters which transmit information between nerve cells in the brain, and improving such symptoms as inattention, hyperactivity or impulsiveness.

Who should take Strattera capsules from Japan?

Strattera capsules are considered one of the most effective medications for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in adults and children. Atomexetine may be used alone or along with psychostimulants. Studies also showed that up to 52% of children (including adolescents) and 87% of adults with ADHD also have a comorbid psychiatric disorder, and Strattera capsules did not appear to exacerbate any of the comorbid conditions and could, therefore, be an important therapy choice for the treatment of ADHD in the presence of comorbid disorders (D.
