About the effectiveness of Sermion tablets 5 mg for brain metabolism from Japan
Japanese tablets Sermion contain in each tablet 5 mg of nicergoline, ergot fungi derivative used for decreasing vascular resistance and increasing arterial blood flow in the brain. Nicergoline improves the utilization of oxygen and glucose by brain cells, improves cerebral circulation and metabolism. Sermion tablets are used for treatment of senile dementia (including Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia).
Studies show that nicergoline is effective in up to 89% of patients with dementia of different aetiologies, significantly improving cognition and behavior (B. Winblad, M. Fiorovanti et al. Therapeutic use of nicergoline. Clinical drug investigation, 2008, 28(9): 533-52). Moreover, Sermion tablets are effective for treatment of vascular and balance disorders, including cerebral thrombosis and atherosclerosis, arterial blockages in the limbs, Raynaud's disease, vascular migraines, and retinopathy.
