Medical effect: Omepral tablets are effective for the following purposes:

• Treatment of gastric, anastomotic and duodenal ulcers, the most popular indication of Omepral tablets,
• Treatment of reflux esophagitis or non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease,
• Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome,
• Maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of reflux esophagitis,
• Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (usually in combination with 2 other antibiotics).

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with liver disorder.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.

Dosage and administration

For gastric, anastomotic or duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, reflux esophagitis: for adults, take 2 tablets (20 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. The usual course of treatment is up to 8 weeks for gastric or anastomotic ulcers and reflux esophagitis, and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcer.

For non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease: for adults, take 1 tablet (10 mg) at a time, once a day. The usual course of treatment is up to 4 weeks.

For maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of reflux esophagitis: for adults, take 1-2 tablets (10-20) at a time, once a day.

For eradication of Helicobacter pylori: for adults, take 2 tablets (20 mg) concomitantly with 750 mg of amoxicillin hydrate and 200 mg or 400 mg of clarithromycin at a time, 2 times a day. If the result is insufficient, take the same 2 tablets (20 mg) concomitantly with 750 mg of amoxicillin hydrate and 250 mg of metronidazole at a time, 2 times a day as an alternative. Do not increase the dosage of Omepral tablets.

Omepral tablets contain omeprazole, is a proton-pump inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the terminal step in gastric acid secretion and reducing the secretion of gastric acid in the stomach. Studies proved that while omeprazole itself does not eradicate Helicobacter pylori, the change in gastric acid production subsequently causes the change in the pattern of bacterial colonization and increases the effectiveness of antibiotics up to 95% (E. Omepral tablets are prescribed for treatment of gastric, anastomotic and duodenal ulcers, reflux esophagitis, non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Also, this medicine is used for maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of reflux esophagitis. Due to its potency to increase the effectiveness of antibiotics it is used for eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastric MALT lymphoma, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, the stomach after endoscopic resection of early stage gastric cancer, and Helicobacter pylori gastritis.
