Contraindications and precautions: do not use for the following categories of patients:

• pregnant and breastfeeding women,
• patients with gastrointestinal or urethral obstruction,
• patients with parasympathicotonia,
• patients with bronchial asthma,
• patients with bradycardia,
• patients with peptic ulcer,
• patients with epilepsy,
• patients with Parkinsonism.

Mestinon tablets contain pyridostigmine bromide. It suppresses the decomposition of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter, and helps muscle contraction by having the same effect as acetylcholine. Also, Mestinon tablets work as cholinesterase inhibitor, stopping the excessive activity of cholinesterase. As the result, this medicine effectively decreases muscle weakness in patient with myasthenia gravis.

Mestinon tablets can be used for the elderly patients without any particular indications.  Studies showed this medicine improves reaction time on tests of memory and attention (M. R. Cook, C.
