Medical effect: Lioresal tablets are effective for the treatment of spastic paralysis caused by cerebrovascular disorder, cerebral (infantile) paralysis, sequelae of injury, etc.
Contraindications and precautions: Do not use for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
As this medication may cause drowsiness, patient should avoid driving a car, working on heights or operating dangerous machinery while taking this medicine. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.
If an allergic reaction occurs, stop using the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication or receiving any other treatment, you have to consult with your doctor before use.
Dosage and administration
For adults: start with taking 5-15 mg of the active ingredient a day, dividing it into 1-3 doses. Then gradually increase to the standard dose of 6 tablets (30 mg) a day, with the steps by every 2 to 3 days. Please note that this preparation contains 5 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet.
For children: start with taking a half tablet (2.5 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 2 times a day, or 1 tablet (5mg) at a time, once a day. Then gradually increase to the standard dose with the steps by every 2 to 3 days. The daily standard dose is as following:
- for children aged 4-6: 1-3 tablets (5-15 mg),
- for children aged 7-11: 1-4 tablets (5-20 mg),
- for children aged 12-15: 1-5 tablets (5-25 mg).
In any case, the doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the symptoms, age or weight.
How effective are Lioresal tablets 5 mg from Japan for spastic paralysis (baclofen, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord)?
Lioresal tablets contain baclofen, a derivative of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It works by activating or agonizing GABA receptors, specifically the GABA-B receptors. As the result, Lioresal tablets act on the spinal cord and suppress neurotransmission which causes excess reflex movement of muscle.
Who should take Lioresal tablets 5 mg from Japan?
Lioresal tablets are effective for relieving paralysis or stiffness of the muscle caused by cerebrovascular disorder, cerebral (infantile) paralysis or sequelae of injury.
