Medical effect: Ebrantil capsules are effective for the treatment of hypertension and dysuria associated with prostatic hyperplasia and neurogenic bladder.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with liver damage.

As this medicine may cause dizziness or lack of concentration due to decreased blood pressure, patient should pay avoid driving a car, working at heights or operating dangerous mechanisms.

Dosage and administration

• For treatment of essential hypertension, renal hypertension, hypertension associated with pheochromocytoma: for adults, start with 15 mg of the active ingredient at a time, twice a day, as an initial dosage. If the effect is insufficient, the dose should be gradually increased at 1-2 week intervals up to 60 mg at a time, twice daily, after breakfast and supper. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the age or symptoms.
• For treatment of dysuria associated with prostatic hyperplasia: for adults, start with 15 mg of the active ingredient at a time, twice a day, as an initial dosage. If the effect is insufficient, the dose should be gradually increased at 1-2 week intervals up to 30-45 mg at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and supper. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the symptoms. However, the maximum daily dosage of 90 mg should not be exceeded.
• For treatment of dysuria associated with neurogenic bladder: for adults, start with 15 mg of the active ingredient at a time, twice a day, as an initial dosage. Then the dose should be gradually increased at 1-2 week intervals up to 30 mg at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and supper. The doctor in charge may adjust the dosage according to the symptoms. However, the maximum daily dosage of 90 mg should not be exceeded.

How effective are Ebrantil capsules 30 mg from Japan for hypertension and dysuria (urapidil)?

Ebrantil capsules contain urapidil, an α1-adrenoceptor antagonist and as an 5-HT1A receptor agonist. It works by dilating peripheral vessels and lowering the blood pressure. Also, urapidil suppresses smooth muscle contraction in the prostate and the urethra and dilates the urethra. By this, Ebrantil capsules make urinating easier.

Ebrantil capsules are effective for the treatment of hypertension, including essential hypertension, renal hypertension and hypertension associated with pheochromocytoma, and dysuria associated with prostatic hyperplasia and neurogenic bladder. Studies showed that unlike other α1-adrenoceptor antagonists, urapidil does not elicit reflex tachycardia (A. G.
