Medical effect: Cubicin IV is effective for the treatment of bacterial infections including following:

• sepsis,
• infective endocarditis,
• deep-skin infection,
• secondary infection in trauma, burns and operative wounds,
• secondary infection of erosion and ulcer.

Contraindications and precautions: do not use for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use for patients with dyspnea, cold sweat, facial pallor or renal disease.

Blood tests should be performed while using this medicine for periodical monitoring of creatine kinase level.

If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medicine and consult with your doctor. If you’re taking any other medication, please consult with your doctor before use.

Dosage and administration

For sepsis: for adults, an intravenous drip infusion over 30 minutes or intravenous injection should be performed slowly once a day. For children aged 1-7 years, an intravenous drip infusion over 60 minutes once a day should be performed. For children aged 7-18 years, an intravenous drip infusion over 30 minutes once a day should be performed.

Infective endocarditis: for adults, an intravenous drip infusion over 30 minutes or intravenous injection should be performed slowly once a day.

For deep-skin infection, secondary infection in trauma, burns and operative wounds, secondary infection of erosion and ulcer: an intravenous drip infusion over 30 minutes or intravenous injection should be performed slowly once a day. For children aged 1-7 years, an intravenous drip infusion over 60 minutes should be performed once a day. For children aged 7-18 years, an intravenous drip infusion over 30 minutes should be performed once a day.

The duration of the treatment should be prescribed by the doctor in charge according to patient's age, disease and symptoms.

A patient should lie or sit quietly from the beginning to the end of drip infusion or for a while after intravenous injection.

How effective is Cubicin IV 350 mg from Japan (daptomycin, antibiotic)?

Cubicin IV is an itravenous form of daptomycin, a cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic. It works by disrupting differen aspects of bacterial cell membrane function. Daptomycin alters the curvature of the membrane, which creates holes and causes rapid depolarization of membrane potential. This leads to the intracellular inhibition of protein, DNA, and RNA synthesis and bacterial cell death.

Cubicin IV is effective against Gram-positive bacteria. It's used for the treatment of sepsis, infective endocarditis, deep-skin infection, secondary infection in trauma, burns and operative wounds, secondary infection of erosion and ulcer.
