Medical effect: Primidone tablets are effective for the treatment the following diseases and conditions:
- convulsive seizures (generalized tonic-clonic seizures, grand mal),
- psychomotor seizures (complex partial seizures),
- focal seizures (partial seizures, localized seizures),
- minor motor seizures,
- essential tremor.
Contraindications and precautions: do not use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use in patients with acute intermittent porphyria.

Dosage and administration of Primidone tablets Nichi-iko 250 mg from Japan for epilepsy, seizures and tremor (Lepsiral, Mysoline, Resimatil)
For adults: start with taking 1 tablet before going to bed for the first 3 days. Then, the dosage will be increased by 1 tablet every 3 days up to daily dose of 6 tablets. The standard daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses a day. The consulting doctor may adjust the dosage according to age and symptoms. However, the maximum daily dosage should not exceed 8 tablets (2,000 mg of active ingredient) a day.
For children: start with taking 0.5 tablet (125 mg) before going to bed for the first 3 days. Then, the dosage should be increased by 0.5 tablet every 3-4 days up to the standard dose. Standard daily dose depends on age:
- for children under 2 years old: 1-2 tablets,
- for 3 to 5 years old: 2-3 tablets,
- for 6 to 15 years old: 3-4 tablets.
The standard daily dose should be divided into 2-3 times a day. The consulting doctor may adjust the dosage, according to age, weight and symptoms.
