How effective are Cetirizine hydrochloride tablets 5 mg from Japan for allergy (Zyrtec, antihistamine)?
Cetirizine hydrochloride is a highly selective antagonist of the histamine H1 receptor and an anti-inflammatory drug. By suppressing the action of histamine and inflammatory response, it significantly improves the allergic symptoms. It provides no cardiotoxicity and does not undergo extensive metabolism. Due to that, Cetirizine hydrochloride tablets don’t interact with many medicines that inhibit or induce cytochrome enzymes and can be prescribed in combination with other drugs, like antibiotics.
Who should use Cetirizine hydrochloride tablets 5 mg from Japan?
Cetirizine hydrochloride tablets are effective for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, hives, eczema and dermatitis, prurigo and cutaneous pruritus. They can be used for both adults and children over 7 years old. Studies showed that cetirizine, unlike many other antihistamines, produces minimal sedation due to minimal crossing of the blood–brain barrier (A. Gupta, P. Chatelain et al. "Brain distribution of cetirizine enantiomers: comparison of three different tissue-to-plasma partition coefficients: K(p), K(p,u), and K(p,uu)". Drug Metabolism and Disposition, 2006, 34 (2): 318–23).
